Cultural Links illustrates important cultural aspects of English-speaking countries.
The book is divided into seven files: Language, Identity, English-speaking countries, Flashback, People and lifestyle, Education, Institutions. The book enables students to widen their knowledge of the geography, history and culture of English-speaking countries, through the analysis of numerous authentic documents and texts. The students are stimulated to reflect on their own lives and on the world around them, comparing their culture with that of other countries. The first section of each of the seven files focuses on the key facts related to the theme. The documents and texts are accompanied by a series of varied and stimulating activities which aim to aid comprehension and to develop the four skills of Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. The second section focuses on wider and more complex aspects of the theme (the development and global spread of English, multiculturalism, ecology, the distribution of resources and wealth, global culture and integration), analysing aspects of globalization and presenting topics of interest to young people.
